I found these verses of the day from Psalm 142 to be encouraging and wanted to pass along. As we get close to Christmas Day and the celebration of His birth on earth, just a reminder for myself that I can talk to Jesus about anything and everything, and that He hears our prayers.
For me it’s very easy to pray out of repetition where the words just come out of habit, verses actually having sincerity. These verses reminded and encouraged me that Jesus needs to be my sole help and foundation in my life.
Verse 7. My mind is my prison. Thoughts can be poisonous. Repetition, fear, anxiety, depression, you name it. Pray that God will set your mind free and when it happens to know that it was something that only He could, and praise His name.
”Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.“
Psalms 142:7 NIV
I pray that if you’ve prayed all your life, or never prayed at all, to just talk to Jesus, and tell Him everything that’s on your mind. Everything that’s worrying you. Everything that you’re afraid of. Anything that you’re questioning. Anything that doesn’t make sense (and trust me the things that are going on in this world it seems like none of it makes any sense). He hears you. Him being fully God and fully man, He walked among us and lived this life. He understands. Try to picture His face like He’s in the room with you, and just talk to Him, trusting in faith and believing He hears you.
